Track Plan
The track plan for Waverley Bridge was designed to be as simple as possible, making for a recognisable location despite a significant reduction in the number of platforms. A loco spur was added in the bottom left corner to allow an AC electric to be stored on view, although this facility isn't there on the real Edinburgh track layout. The dark grey section at the top of the plan shows the location of the scenic section representing Princes Street Gardens, with a photo backscene providing more depth. The original track plan is shown below, with a loop allowing locos to run around their trains.
Having developed the layout slightly, the two points in the centre of the plan were replaced with plain track. This meant that fewer point motors had to be installed, and running was likely to be more reliable on these sections. The updated and final plan is shown below.
